Please help
As we work hard to continue to provide all the services shown throughout the website and as we receive no government funding we are continually looking for ways to raise funds and expand. We are lucky to have a diverse group of trustees all of whom have experience of autism and disability these include a psychotherapist, banker and former High Sheriff, solicitor, police officer, builder and teacher. Our management team consists of 3 staff members two with a diagnosis of autism and a third with physical difficulties. All staff members have lived experience of autism including their own diagnosis and are trained to a minimum of a level 3 in childcare with one specialising in sign language to support our non-verbal service users. We believe our team fully represents the autistic community and recognises the difficulties a lot of people with disabilities face. We are able to empathise and offer advice through our own experiences, training and knowledge enabling us to work positively with our members of all ages. Numbers affected by autism grow on a daily basis and Sunbeams has been running at full capacity for over 2 years and now feel confident that our services need to expand reaching out to more of the autistic community offering support, training and employment. The team at Sunbeams are raising funds to enable us to purchase a new building and expand, doubling services and developing additional services where needed. New services will include a special needs nursery and links with portage and a local GP group both of which have shown a keen interest in working with us. To do this we need to raise £300,000. Sunbeams currently has over 70 children and young people on the waiting list and this figure continues to rise, Funding will enable us to lower the waiting list significantly while providing much needed funds to develop and grow. Along with our Stay and Play, parent support and Late Diagnosis groups all members will have access to our counselling and therapy service, trips, outings, and activities as well as parent support, advocacy, food parcels and help with the cost of living. Please support our much needed and valuable service through our GoFundMe page or if you are able through corporate sponsorship.
