Parents and carers -

1-2-3 Magic provides an easy-to-learn parenting programme, helping parents build strong, positive relationships with their children and overcome difficult behaviour. Developed by clinical psychologist, Thomas W. Phelan, Ph.D. and recommended by ADDiSS to support children with or without additional needs.

The 1-2-3 Magic programme runs for 2-2½ hours a week for 4 weeks and is FREE for parents and carers of Sunbeams Play children and young people.

Open to:

Professionals £25.00 per person

Teachers

1-2-3 Magic in the Classroom offers advice and strategies for teachers eager to develop better discipline. Developed by clinical psychologist, Thomas W. Phelan, Ph.D. and recommended by ADDiSS to support children with or without additional needs, has been used for over twenty-five years by parents, teachers and other care givers providing practical methods for eliminating disruptive behaviour, encouraging communication and productive work habits.

Using straightforward language 123 Magic shows teachers how to measure discipline in a classroom environment, as well as how to handle difficult situations like assemblies, lunchtime, and field trips.

The 1-2-3 Magic programme can be provided as flexible ‘In House’ Training; available for educational settings with a minimum of 10 attendees, and can be presented as:

A 1-day training session,

2 half days or

2-2½ hours a week for 4 weeks.

Cygnet Programme - Dates to be arranged

The Cygnet Parenting Support Programme is an evidence-based programme designed for parents and carers of children and young people aged 5-18 with an autistic spectrum condition. The programme is designed to:

• Increase parents understanding of autistic spectrum conditions.
• Help parents develop their knowledge on how a child on the autistic spectrum experiences the world and what drives their behaviour.
• Guide parents through practical strategies they can use with children
• Direct parents to relevant ASC resources.
• Give parents the opportunity to meet with other parents who have had similar experiences and to gain support and learn from each other.

Core Parenting Programme

A 6-week parenting programme providing the opportunity to gain further understanding of your child/young person’s needs (5-18yrs) through skills, strategies and knowledge covering:

• Autism and diagnosis
• Communication
• Sensory issues
• Understanding behaviour
• Managing behaviour
• Final session is chosen by parents/carers enabling any of the above to be revisited.

The Core Cygnet programme runs for 2-2½ hours a week for 6 weeks and is FREE for parents and carers of Sunbeams Play children and young people.

Puberty, Sexual Wellbeing and Relationships

Puberty, Sexual Wellbeing and Relationships is a 4-week programme for parents wanting to support their children/young people through this difficult stage and for young people to understand their own needs.
