Family Firework Event

Many of our young people believe that bonfire night is an American idea and are unaware that Guy Fawkes was an English conspirator in the 17th century Gunpowder Plot an unsuccessful plan to blow up Westminster Palace with King James 1 and parliament inside. Guy Fawkes Day or Bonfire Night is celebrated on November 5th to commemorate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 and up until 1959 it was illegal to not celebrate Bonfire Night in England.

Highfield Farm's fundraising firework event Sparks over the farm (Firework Fiesta) is a traditional family event for all ages with entertainment from Barrie Thornton Children's Entertainer and Time Trax Disco, 2 displays from Flash FX, Ruby Flames entertainment, fairground rides and food stalls.
